avoi’s Vision of an Ideal Society and Ruler

Throughout his works, Alisher Navoi presents a philosophical and ethical vision of an ideal society, where rulers govern with justice, wisdom, and moral integrity. His ideas on governance, social justice, and leadership are most vividly expressed in Mahbub ul-Qulub ("Beloved of Hearts") and Saddi Iskandari ("The Wall of Alexander").

Navoi believed that a great ruler must possess knowledge, fairness, and compassion. He warned against tyranny, greed, and the abuse of power, emphasizing that a leader’s duty is to serve the people, not to exploit them. In Saddi Iskandari, he portrays Alexander the Great as a wise and just ruler, using the legend of Alexander to illustrate how power should be used for the greater good rather than personal gain.

His social philosophy also emphasized education, ethical behavior, and unity. He argued that knowledge is the foundation of a strong society and that rulers should support scholars, poets, and teachers to ensure progress. His works remain relevant today as a source of wisdom on ethical leadership, justice, and social harmony.
